January 22 2024 – John Shannon & Michael Del Zotto

Matt and Blake unpack a busy weekend for the Canucks including the win over the Leafs, Carson Soucy's latest injury, and interesting comments from president Jim Rutherford and Elias Pettersson. The guys talk about Conor Garland's incredible season, the fantastic progress of Nils Höglander, Tyler Myers getting a promotion to the top-pair with Quinn Hughes, Filip Hronek getting a chance to anchor his own pair, the coaching genius of Rick Tocchet, more details on Hughes and Co at the All-Star Game, the earth-changing changes in Junior A hockey with the merger of AJHL clubs into the BCHL, Saint Patrick Roy back in the NHL, and those pesky Edmonton Oilers who keep on winning.

John Shannon stops by with a new Canucks drinking game. We talk about Rick Tocchet's evolution, the future with Jim Rutherford now secured, the trade deadline and whether Nils Höglander should be available, the win over the Leafs, the surging Edmonton Oilers and new signing Corey Perry, and Patrick Roy back in the NHL.

January 19 2024 – Jeff Paterson

Matt and Blake dissect the Canucks press conference announcing a contract extension for the President of Hockey Operations, Jim Rutherford, including what Rutherford believes is behind his team's turnaround, the path forward to re-signing Elias Pettersson, what to do with a slumping Andrei Kuzmenko (sounds like he'll be traded), the likelihood that the Canucks make a big acquisition prior to the deadline, and chances of a practice facility sooner than later. The guys also cover a spirited 2-1 win over Arizona Thursday that had fights, physicality, a playoff feel, more genius from Petey and good work by the Conor Garland line, and some complimentary post-game words from the Coyotes' coach.

Rink Wide: Vancouver host Jeff Paterson stops by with his interpretation of what he heard from Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini and Rutherford, on the extension, on going for it, on big trades, Pettersson, Kuzmenko and a practice facility.

January 18 2024 – Patrick Johnston & Rob Williams

Canucks gameday vs the Coyotes, as they get back to the home half of the schedule, and the guys help set it all up. Plus, the guys deal with lingering questions about the roster heading towards the NHL All-Star break and trade deadline, and who gets credits for getting them to this point, from the President down to the coach.

Patrick Johnston of The Province stops by, fresh off his conversation with Jim Rutherford, and shares what his takeaways were, including the possibility of changing the roster sooner rather than later.

Rob Williams of the Daily Hive makes his weekly appearance as well, and reminds us that a helmet reveal is still in the offing for the Canucks, maybe as soon as this week. Plus, Rob weighs in on the Pettersson contract anxiety, and the possibility of a Rick Tocchet contract extension before the end of the season. All that, plus some CFL and NFL news! January 17 2024 – Frank Seravalli & Frank Corrado

Matt and Blake comb through the continuing angst over Elias Pettersson's contractual status and Patrik Allvin's comments about how it's unusual for an RFA to not have a resolution at this point. They discuss Elias' history with the franchise, the signposts to come and how this can play out. They also talk about Allvin getting aggressive before the trade deadline, whether he owes it to fans and the players. Plus, whether they could acquire a player and instantly sign them in this environment with Pettersson and Filip Hronek unsigned, and midseason awards and one outlet having Rick Tocchet and Quinn Hughes as trophy winners. Other topics include the B.C. Lions re-signing another key free agent and the Seahawks giving John Schneider the keys to the kingdom.

Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff joins to talk about how aggressive the Canucks will get before the deadline, the worrying over Pettersson, whether the club would let him go into his final year before unrestricted free agency, trade buzz around Andrei Kuzmenko and two Western Conference clubs that could be a source of deadline reinforcements.

Frank Corrado stops by and puts himself in Allvin's shoes with regards to Pettersson. He comments on whether Elias Lindholm would be a fit with the existing wingers, and whether Kuzmenko has to be dealt to better utilize his cap hit. Presented by Applewood Auto Group.

Other topics include: team MVP, whether the Wild might be ripe for trade picking, candidates to land Trevor Zegras, Jacob Markstrom trade talk, and the Seahawks coaching search.

Rink Wide: Vancouver host Jeff Paterson stops by to discuss Pettersson, Hronek, Andrei Kuzmenko's road trip, the Ian Cole-Nikita Zadorov pairing, Ilya Mikheyev and the scoring outage of that line, the club's fatigue level and team MVP.

January 15 2024 – John Shannon

All good things must come to an end, and both the road trip and winning streak are over for the Canucks. Matt and Blake get into the final effort of the odyssey, in Columbus, as they finish 5-1-1 over the 7 games. The Canucks are in 1st overall and have the guys talking about another Presidents’ Trophy again?! You think that’s crazy, how about reaction to Bruce Boudreau’s claim of Quinn Hughes as a centre?

John Shannon stops by and gives his thoughts on the Canucks success, and how it’s led to an unprecedented 5 Canucks at the All-Star Game. Plus, when will the first deals of the season be made in the NHL? All the Canucks coverage you can handle, plus a review of the weekend that was in the NFL playoffs. January 12 2024 – Frank Seravalli & Jeff Paterson

Matt and Blake digest another Canucks win, and continued excellence from the Lotto Line. We hear from Thatcher Demko, Elias Pettersson and Rick Tocchet from Pittsburgh, and discuss whether the Canucks should go "all-in" on this season. The guys talk about Jim Rutherford saying the Canucks want another top-6 forward, whether that should be a centre or a winger and the candidates at each position. We put the club's historic PDO into context with some of the best teams in modern NHL history, as well as Tocchet heading to the All-Star Game.

Frank Seravalli stops by and says the Canucks should target a defenceman not a forward, that they shouldn't go all-in, and offers some names on the trade market including their expected cost. Frank says Sean Monahan, and an under-the-radar Flyers defenceman would be wise targets given their expected cost.

Rink Wide: Vancouver host Jeff Paterson joins to talk about the Lotto Line, scoring first and holding two-period leads - the Canucks winning formula. Jeff wants to see this defence corps get a run before adding to it, and thinks "all-in" is too bold and that the Canucks shouldn't be seduced by names like Elias Lindholm and Jake Guentzel, rather should target cheaper rentals. The guys also talk about J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser, and the value they're bringing (despite rich contracts).

Plus, we go To The People and hear from listeners/followers on topics such as Guentzel, Jim Benning's acquisitions and line nicknames. Presented by Applewood Auto Group.

January 11 2024 – Patrick Johnston & Rob Williams

It’s a game day for the Canucks in Pittsburgh, which means the dreams of Jake Guentzel in a Canucks uniform have become impossible to ignore. Matt and Blake discuss what it would take, and who would be likely involved to make it all work. Patrick Johnston of the Province has his own thoughts on it, and other trades like it, as the Canucks continue to roll and continue to lean on the Lotto line. Also, is Corey Perry a possibility??

It’s Lunar New Year jersey time, so that means Rob Williams of the Daily Hive has to weigh in on the new design and the new price the fans are being asked to pay for it. Not to mention, are the Canucks really contenders that will give the fans some memories this spring? All that, plus some reaction on the 3 football coaching exits of Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. January 10 2024 – Frank Corrado

Matt and Blake digest another Canucks win, this one in against the Islanders, and a sweep of the Gotham-area teams as the team hits the midpoint of the schedule. They discuss the second half and what paces can keep up, the play of Casey DeSmith, defencemen creating goals, all the beautiful goals they're scoring these days, Quinn Hughes' season, a load-management scratching for Ian Cole, the club's Stanley Cup odds and a pair of trade-target centremen. They also talk about Pete Carroll, out as head coach in Seattle. Plus, a special Welcome Matt where Matt tells himself he was wrong.

Frank Corrado stops by to comment on the win over the Islanders, the scoring from the blue-line, Hughes' stunning solo effort, if he's ever been mesmerized on the ice by stars on the other side, the resting of Cole, individual paces maintaining in the second half and where the Canucks are doing their damage. Presented by Applewood Auto Group.
