The Buffalo Sabres currently sport a 22-27-5 record and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. With this, it is possible that they could end up trading some of their pending unrestricted free agents before the NHL Trade Deadline passes. 

Buffalo Sabres forward Dylan Cozens has been the subject of trade rumors for much of this season. Questions surrounding his future in Buffalo should only keep coming up as we continue to get closer to the 2025 NHL trade deadline.

As the NHL 4 Nation Face-Off finishes up in Boston on Thursday, NHL clubs will begin to ramp up towards the remaining one-third of the regular season on Saturday. The Buffalo Sabres practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday and took a day off on Thursday, with head coach Lindy Ruff laying out a blueprint of how the club can climb out of last place in the East and challenge for a playoff spot, but with less than a 1% chance of qualifying for the postseason, GM Kevyn Adams has to be planning on what to do in the 17days before the NHL trade deadline.

The three Buffalo Sabres players who participated in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal and Boston are headed back to Buffalo, as Sabres team captain Rasmus Dahlin’s Team Sweden and Henri Jokiharju and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s Team Finland were both eliminated in the final day of the three-game round robin on Monday.
