The Washington Capitals placed forward Evgeny Kuznetsov on waivers, general manager Brian MacLellan announced.
Earlier Saturday, the NHL and NHLPA announced Kuznetsov had been cleared to resume practicing with the club after entering the follow-up care phase of the player assistance program.
"It's about a fresh start for Kuzy," MacLellan said, according to Stephen Whyno of The Associated Press.
Kuznetsov isn't eligible to play any games yet. He entered the program Feb. 5.
The 31-year-old recorded 17 points in 43 contests before being ruled out indefinitely. Kuznetsov is in his 11th season after the Capitals drafted him 26th overall in 2010.
Kuznetsov is under contract through 2025 at a cap hit of $7.8 million. He has a 10-team no-trade clause for the remainder of his deal.
