Veteran goalie Curtis McElhinney is hanging up his pads after 13 seasons in the NHL, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced Thursday.

McElhinney spent the bulk of his career as a reliable backup netminder, collecting 94 wins and 12 shutouts in 197 starts while posting a .907 save percentage and 2.83 goals-against average.

The 38-year-old journeyman played for eight different teams in his career: the Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators, Arizona Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, and lastly, the Lightning.

McElhinney joined Tampa Bay at the right time, closing out his career with two Stanley Cup rings while backing up Andrei Vasilevskiy.
