Watch: Plekanec pots historic equalizer in dying seconds of regulation

Tomas Plekanec may have temporarily saved the Montreal Canadiens' season.

The veteran forward came through in the waning moments of regulation Friday night, redirecting a pass from Alex Radulov to tie Game 2 against the New York Rangers with just over 17 seconds left in the third period.

It was the latest game-tying goal in Canadiens playoff history, eclipsing Jacques Lemaire's marker that came with 24 seconds remaining in Game 1 of the 1975 semifinal against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Rangers entered Friday's game with a 1-0 series lead after winning the series opener at the Bell Centre on Wednesday night.
