Washington Capitals defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has been suspended two games for charging Los Angeles Kings defenseman Kevin Gravel, the NHL department of player safety announced Sunday.
The play occurred in Saturday's contest between the Kings and Capitals.
The suspension will keep Shattenkirk out of the lineup Sunday versus the Anaheim Ducks and Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild.
The Capitals acquired Shattenkirk from the St. Louis Blues at this year's trade deadline.
