Hockey's an emotional game, and a lot of feelings were had in St. Louis on Tuesday night.
Former Blues captain David Backes returned to the city he spent his first 10 seasons playing in, this time as a member of the Boston Bruins, and was feted with a video tribute and a standing ovation.
Backes signed with the Bruins in free agency, but acknowledged that Tuesday would be an emotional moment for him. He saluted the crowd after the tribute:
Backes was deeply involved in the St. Louis community during his time as a Blue, along with his wife, who was given a shoutout Tuesday as well - a gesture Backes particularly appreciated.
