The Montreal Canadiens placed forward Sven Andrighetto on waivers Friday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
As per TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie, the move is likely in response to defenseman Jeff Petry who is feeling better after missing the team's season opener on Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres with a knee injury.
Andrighetto split last season with the Canadiens and the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League. He posted seven goals and 17 points in 44 games with the big club, while adding another 23 points in 26 games with the IceCaps.
