It appears Brad Marchand is still riding his World Cup of Hockey high.
The Boston Bruins forward helped propel his club to a 6-3 win in the team's season opener Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets by netting two goals and adding three assists. While the five-point outburst was impressive enough, it was his second goal of the game late in the third period that truly stole the show.
After all was said and done, the line of Marchand, David Pastrnak, and David Backes combined for all six goals and 12 points in the contest. Not bad, considering the team's top-center Patrice Bergeron was absent due to injury.
The outing gives Marchand the very early league lead in points.
