Watch: Laine displays scoring touch in 1st NHL game

Patrik Laine, too, is in with a successful NHL debut.

The No. 2 overall draft pick with the Winnipeg Jets provided a taste of his goal-scoring prowess in his first NHL start, caressing a pass in the offensive zone and hesitating just enough to open a shooting lane before slinging his first goal past Carolina Hurricanes netminder Cam Ward.

After cutting the lead to one, Laine helped the Jets salvage a point with an assist on Mathieu Perreault's game-tying goal with less than a minute-and-a-half to go.
