Jared Bednar made his first big move as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
The team's new bench boss announced defenseman Francois Beauchemin and forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene will serve as the club's alternate captains this season.
According to Bednar, Beauchemin will wear the 'A' full time. MacKinnon and Duchene will rotate, with Duchene getting it to start.
The three will continue to serve behind Gabriel Landeskog, who has held the role of captain since the 2012-13 season.
