Panarin sidelined rest of year after scrum with Wilson

New York Rangers superstar Artemi Panarin will miss the rest of the season after being slammed to the ice by Tom Wilson on Monday night, head coach David Quinn confirmed.

Defensemen Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren will miss the club's final three games as well.

Panarin's injury came on a highly controversial play from the Washington Capitals enforcer. Many thought Wilson would be disciplined, but the Department of Player Safety only doled out a $5,000 fine.

Quinn said Wilson crossed the line after the loss, then doubled down Tuesday saying a small fine isn't appropriate punishment for the incident.

"Not at all," Quinn said, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post. "To me, anybody in hockey, certainly in our organization, is very disappointed. Certainly thought it warranted a suspension, which is really disappointing."

Panarin leads the Rangers with 58 points in 42 games this season.
