The Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers pulled off a buzzer-beater trade on Monday prior to the deadline.
The Flyers are sending forward Wayne Simmonds to the Music City for Ryan Hartman and a draft pick, the team announced. The draft choice is a fourth-round pick in 2020, but it will become a third-rounder if Nashville advances past the first round in the playoffs, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Simmonds, 30, carries a $3.975-million cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He's scored 16 goals and recorded 11 assists in 62 games this season.
Simmonds played his first two seasons in Philadelphia under Peter Laviolette, who's now the head coach in Nashville.
He's the Predators' second major addition of the day after they landed Mikael Granlund from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Kevin Fiala.
