The Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets will support and honor those affected by the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team with a series of initiatives at their game Saturday night.
The Broncos, a junior hockey team based in Saskatchewan, were traveling in their bus Friday when a transport truck T-boned the vehicle. The crash has now left 15 dead.
In addition to a moment of silence before the game, the Jets and Blackhawks will wear "Broncos" on the back of their jerseys in place of individual names.
Here's a look at Winnipeg's threads:
All proceeds raised from the 50/50 raffle will be donated to the Broncos as well. The Jets, Blackhawks, and the NHL will each donate $25,000 to "sweeten the pot," according to the release.
Humboldt, Saskatchewan is located about seven hours west of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the two teams will meet Saturday.
