The Winnipeg Jets signed rugged winger Matt Hendricks to a one-year contract worth $700,000, the team announced Saturday.
Hendricks spent the past three-and-a-half seasons as a member of the Edmonton Oilers, proving to be proficient in the faceoff circle and on the penalty kill while recording 20 goals, 18 assists, and 245 penalty minutes in 214 games with the team.
Hendricks was not, however, able to crack the lineup during the Oilers' long-awaited return to the playoffs last season.
He will likely battle it out for a spot on Winnipeg's fourth line in training camp.
