There haven't been many like Patrick Kane.
The Chicago Blackhawks superstar scored his 20th goal of the season Sunday in his hometown of Buffalo, and set an American record in the process. Kane's now officially the first U.S.-born player to score 20 or more in each of his first 10 seasons in the league.
Ten players did it either eight or nine times, and they're some of the best the U.S. has ever produced:
Player | # of 20G seasons in 1st 10 seasons |
---|---|
Kane | 10 |
Chris Drury | 9 |
Mike Modano | 9 |
Keith Tkachuk | 9 |
Tony Amonte | 8 |
David Christian | 8 |
Phil Kessel | 8 |
Pat LaFontaine | 8 |
Joe Mullen | 8 |
Ed Olczyk | 8 |
Jeremy Roenick | 8 |
In the goals-per-game category, Kane's 271 goals in 717 contests are good enough for 10th all time among Americans:
Player | GPG |
---|---|
LaFontaine | 0.54 |
Mullen | 0.47 |
Tkachuk | 0.45 |
Jimmy Carson | 0.44 |
John LeClair | 0.42 |
Zach Parise | 0.39 |
Mark Pavelich | 0.39 |
Roenick | 0.38 |
Kevin Stevens | 0.38 |
Kane | 0.38 |
Among active players, Kane trails only Zach Parise among his compatriots. Max Pacioretty (0.37), Phil Kessel (0.36), and Joe Pavelski (0.36) are right behind No. 88.
