The New Jersey Devils will recognize the franchise's original owner, John McMullen, as the first inductee in the team's Ring of Honor.
McMullen brought the NHL to New Jersey in 1982 after purchasing the then-Colorado Rockies and moving the franchise to the Garden State.
Under McMullen's guidance, the Devils captured three Stanley Cups, in 1995, 2000, and 2003, and were a force to be reckoned with through 1990s and early 21st century.
The ceremony takes place at the Prudential Center on Friday, prior to the team's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The family of the late McMullen will attend the ceremony in his honor.
