Persistence pays off.
That's the lesson taught by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner on Saturday night.
The rookie put plenty of pressure on the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime before teammate Jake Gardiner buried the game-winner to give the Leafs a 2-1 victory.
Marner single-handedly created a scoring chance, then stole the puck back on the forecheck and fed it to Gardiner for the relatively academic tap-in.
Not bad for a 19-year-old.
