Kadri levels Daniel Sedin with blindside hit

It was a hectic few seconds in Toronto on Saturday night.

Following Morgan Rielly's heavy, open-ice hit on Jannik Hansen midway through the third period, Nazem Kadri caught Daniel Sedin with a blindside check as the Vancouver Canucks forward was in the midst of firing a shot over the glove of Frederik Andersen.

In reaction to the hit, Hansen dropped the gloves with Kadri.

In all, the play saw Kadri assessed a five-minute major for fighting and a major for charging, while Hansen was given a major for fighting, two minutes for instigating, and a game misconduct.

Sedin immediately left the ice to be checked by the medical staff but made a prompt return.

With three prior suspensions, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, Kadri can likely expect another call from the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Offense keeps rolling in Boston as Rangers win 4th straight

BOSTON - Derek Stepan and Kevin Hayes each scored short-handed goals, Antti Raanta made 35 saves and the surging New York Rangers beat the Boston Bruins 5-2 on Saturday night.

Pavel Buchnevich added a power-play goal, Stepan had two assists, and Michael Grabner and Nick Holden also scored for New York, which won its fourth straight game and seventh in the last eight.

David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins, who had won their last three games. Tuukka Rask made 19 saves, but lost for the first time after winning his first six starts.

New York took a 2-1 lead on Stepan's goal late in the first period as he broke in alone after taking a pass from Grabner. Rask poked the puck off his stick, but it caromed off both of the winger's skates and slid into the net.

Hayes scored on the end of a 3-on-1 break at 2:18 of the second to make it 3-1.

Report: Jets have let teams know Burmistrov is available

The Winnipeg Jets are reportedly looking to trade forward Alex Burmistrov.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday on "Headlines" that "a note was sent around this week that Burmistrov is available."

Friedman added that he doesn't think Burmistrov's camp has requested a trade, "but there's an understanding this isn't working for either side right now, so the Jets are looking to see what they can get for him."

The 25-year-old has one assist in 11 games. He had seven goals and 14 assists in 81 games last season.

The Jets are banged up at forward, with Bryan Little, Mathieu Perreault, and Joel Armia all out. Winnipeg's thinking, according to Friedman, is that it "could be six-to-eight weeks with an ankle injury" for Armia.

Report: Senators unlikely to pursue outdoor game at football stadium

It was Parliament Hill or bust for the Ottawa Senators.

After having their dream of hosting an outdoor NHL game on the hill dashed by Canadian Heritage Minister Melanie Joly on Friday, many assumed the club would turn their focus to TD Place Stadium, but that's reportedly not in the plans.

"The question now is, 'Will ... the city be willing to do it at a football stadium?' I'm told that's unlikely," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday's "Headlines" segment. "They wanted to go big or go home."

The Senators were hoping to hold an outdoor game on Parliament Hill in 2017 to celebrate their 25th anniversary, the league's 100th, and Canada's 150th birthday.

TD Place Stadium will host the 2017 Grey Cup and is home to the CFL's Ottawa Redblacks.

Islanders’ Seidenberg injures Oilers’ Puljujarvi with knee-on-knee hit

This won't make Dennis Seidenberg a popular man in Edmonton.

The New York Islanders defenseman caught Oilers rookie Jesse Puljujarvi with a knee-on-knee hit midway through the opening period Saturday night.

Puljujarvi left the game and was ruled out for the remainder shortly thereafter.

The 18-year-old posted three points in his first nine NHL games prior to Saturday's contest. He was selected fourth overall by the Oilers in June's draft.

Watch: Lehner stones Pageau with paddle stop

Robin Lehner has provided his submission for save of the year on Saturday night.

The Buffalo Sabres goaltender made a miraculous paddle stop on Ottawa Senators forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau to keep the game tied at zeros late in the first period.

Through seven games, Lehner is having a respectable season with a 2.3 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Dorsett finally puts an end to Canucks’ goalless streak

It wasn't the hero Vancouver wanted, but it was the hero they needed.

Derek Dorsett ended the Vancouver Canucks lowly goalless streak at 159:27, hopping on a rebound and pounding the puck past Toronto Maple Leafs netminder Frederik Andersen.

The goal was the team's first since Bo Horvat scored in the second period of the team's 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Oct. 29.

Unfortunately for the Canucks, they were already down 2-0 at that point so they will need to find the back of the net at least one more time if they hope to pick up their first win in eight games.

Anderson wears wife Nicholle’s favorite number in warmup

Craig Anderson wears No. 41 for the Ottawa Senators, but Saturday night called for a heartfelt and temporary change.

As the club explained, it's the favorite number of his wife, Nicholle, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

A member of the opposition acknowledged the tribute.

The Senators and five other NHL teams are holding their Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday.

Anderson and his teammates are wearing decals in honor of Nicholle during the game.

Dubnyk, Landeskog throw punches after goalmouth battle

A lack of scoring is enough to raise tensions.

With the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche knotted at zeros midway through the third period, an innocent screen by Gabriel Landeskog was enough to get under the skin of Devan Dubnyk on Saturday afternoon.

The Wild goalie gave the Avalanche captain a nice wack of the lumber after a scramble in front, which Landeskog didn't take too kindly to. In turn, a rare flurry of fists was exchanged between goaltender and forward.

No harm was done after the dust settled, but minutes later, Landeskog would beat Dubnyk five-hole on the power play to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead and end the netminder's impressive road shutout streak at 170:23.
