Devils’ Quincey mistakenly scores own goal

Kyle Quincey sure loves putting the puck in the net, so much so that he will even direct one into his own net if he has to.

The New Jersey Devils defenseman mistakenly did so after falling to the ice and desperately trying to clear a puck away from the front of his own net. However, in doing so he aided in Brent Burns' seventh goal of the season.

It's unfortunate for Quincey who entered the game having scored two goals - in the opposition's net - over his last four games.

Benn roofs OT winner after serious hustle from Seguin

Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn are at it again.

The Dallas Stars' dynamic duo teamed up on the game-winning overtime goal against the Minnesota Wild on Monday with a little help from brother Jordie Benn.

The play was kick started by a Seguin check that caused a turnover, and finished by a wicked wrist shot from Jamie that was set up by the center.

In a word ...

The goal was Jamie's sixth in 20 games this season and second in the past three contests.

Ryan Ellis pays for ‘extremely dirty’ hit on J.T. Brown

As compromised positions shift.

Ryan Ellis victimized J.T. Brown with hard, highly illegal blindside contact late in Monday's game in Nashville. But when he sprung off the contact and crashed awkwardly into the boards, a vengeful Brown happened to land on top, and delivered a series of unanswered blows from the top as retribution.

Brown wasn't the only Lightning forward that was hot. Afterward, Brian Boyle called Ellis' hit "extremely dirty," according to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, adding, "that shouldn't happen."

Nashville ended up winning 3-1 on P.K. Subban's first multi-goal game with the Predators.

Oilers’ Russell lays crushing hit on Motte

Keep your head up.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Kris Russell absolutely obliterated Chicago Blackhawks rookie Tyler Motte with a textbook hit Monday night.

Luckily for Motte he was no worse for wear after the impact.

Welcome to the big leagues, kid.

Klefbom’s scoring surge a welcome sight for Oilers

Klefboms in bunches.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Oscar Klefbom scored with a blast from inside the circle in the first period Monday night versus the Chicago Blackhawks, in the process extending his goal scoring streak to three games.

A couple of shifts later, Klefbom wheeled into a shooting lane on the power play and snapped a shot that took a touch off Leon Draisaitl to cash his second point of the night.

Klefbom's recent offensive wave comes after a frustrating start for the 23-year-old defender, who the Oilers were counting on to anchor their specialty teams in the absence of a prototypical power-play specialist.

He remains without the puck-moving capability and creativity from the top of the umbrella that the Oilers need to maximize the amount of talent they can throw out in mismatched scenarios. Because a team with Connor McDavid, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Draisaitl simply should not own a below-average scoring rate on the man advantage.

But, with a power shot and precision, Klefbom has shown in recent games that he may have the ability to be a solid No. 2 option in that role.

Hockey world continues to rally around Craig Cunningham using #CunnyCan

The Tucson Roadrunners are rallying support for captain Craig Cunningham, who remains in critical but stable condition after collapsing prior to Saturday's game.

In a tweet sent Tuesday, the AHL club invited the hockey world to join in supporting Cunningham and family by using #CunnyCan, and many quickly jumped at the opportunity to come alongside one of their own.

Much of the support is emanating from Arizona and Boston, in light of Cunningham's connection to the Coyotes and Bruins.

Hertl scheduled for minor knee surgery, no timetable for return

The San Jose Sharks will be without Tomas Hertl for an indefinite period of time.

The winger suffered a right knee sprain on Nov. 17 and will require minor surgery, general manager Doug Wilson announced Monday.

"Hertl will undergo a minor procedure (Tuesday) under the direction of the Kaiser Permanente medical team," Wilson said in a statement. "Following the procedure, Hertl will proceed with his rehabilitation schedule in San Jose.

"No timetable has been set for his return to game action."

Hertl recorded four goals and five assists in 17 games this season.

It should be noted he missed most of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final with an injury to his right knee.
