The Pittsburgh Penguins were flat in the second half of a back-to-back in their shootout loss Saturday versus the Buffalo Sabres, but there was no dip in the production of captain Sidney Crosby.
Zipping a pass from Chris Kunitz into the back of the net on a power play in the third period, Crosby kept his 82-goal scoring pace and matched Patrik Laine for the league lead with 12 goals.
Though he'd have to settle for a career-high 76 tallies should he maintain this scoring surge due to missing the first six games of the season, his league-best 1.33 points per game has him on track to surpass the 100-point threshold for the first time in three seasons.
