Blowing a 4-1 lead in the third period is not how you want to start the season. Ask the Carolina Hurricanes.
Bill Peters' squad was cruising over the Winnipeg Jets with 14:58 to play Thursday. That's when it all fell apart. Blake Wheeler scored nine seconds after Victor Rask put Carolina up 4-1, Patrik Laine potted his first career goal, Mathieu Perreault tied the game up with 90 seconds left, and Mark Scheifele won it in overtime.
Hurricanes fans, they weren't happy. That's about the last way you want to watch your team start the season. Unfortunately for Carolina's social media team, the show must go on, and the game story must be tweeted, even after a ghastly collapse. Here are the best tweets sent the Hurricanes' way after a nightmare first game:
The most CLASSIC @NHLCanes game possible.

It could have been worse, Hurricanes fans. It could have happened in Game 7 of the playoffs.
