The No. 1 overall pick in June's draft punctuated his first career NHL practice by shattering a pane of glass Wednesday.
Matthews did the damage on a one-timer set up by Mitch Marner.

Head coach Mike Babcock reiterated Wednesday that the 19-year-old forward will begin the season as the Leafs' third-line center, according to Jonas Siegel of The Canadian Press.
