London Knights forward Max Jones was suspended 12 games by the OHL on Friday for a head infraction, the league announced.
Jones laid a devastating headshot on Owen Sound's Justin Brack on Wednesday:
What makes the suspension significant is that it comes in the playoffs, after Game 4 of London's first-round series against Owen Sound. Jones is a repeat offender, and will miss the most important games of his and his team's season. London leads the series 3-1.
On that 12-game OHL suspension of Max Jones, note OHL doesn't use "playoff game factor" vs. reg season games for head-checking suspensions

In other words, NHL makes allowance for added importance of playoff games vs. regular season games when determining post-season suspension.

Jones, a left winger, is the 11th-ranked North American skater, according to NHL Central Scouting's 2016 rankings. He had 28 goals and 24 assists in 63 games, and added a goal and an assist in four playoff games.
