The Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur and defenseman Dion Phaneuf will miss the remainder of the regular season, the team announced on Monday.

MacArthur was expected to be shut down after missing all but four games of the regular season with a concussion. The 30-year-old had been cleared to return, but both team doctors and management believe it's in MacArthur's best interest for him to sit out the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Phaneuf missed the last two games with an oblique injury and soreness in high right foot. X-rays of the foot came back negative, but according to the club, further tests revealed a hairline fracture.
Both players are expected to be healthy for the start of training camp next season.
MacArthur went pointless this season in his limited action, while Phaneuf concludes the year with four goals and 32 points in 71 games split between the Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
