With 99 seconds remaining in the third period, Cal Clutterbuck's backhand beat Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo from a tough angle, and would stand as the game-winner in an impressive, 3-2 comeback victory for the New York Islanders.
The Panthers held a 2-0 lead with seven minutes remaining in the final frame, but Kyle Okposo would put the Islanders on the board with a beautiful wrist shot over Luongo's left shoulder.
Less than two minutes later, the Islanders drew even as Josh Bailey potted home a rebound for his 12th of the season, to set up Clutterbuck's heroics.
It was incredible closing 20 minutes for the Islanders, who outshot the Panthers 17-7 in the third, while goalie Thomas Greiss finished the evening with 23 saves to record his first win since Jaroslav Halak was injured March 8.
The win draws the Islanders one point behind the rival New York Rangers as they battle for home ice in a potential first-round playoff matchup. They will visit another division rival Tuesday when they face the Pittsburgh Penguins.
